Richmond F.C is one of the few historical clubs within the London area that bears the same name as its town, a club rich in history that was formed in 1861 and is credited with a number of firsts, including participating in the world’s very first inter-club fixture in 1864 against Blackheath.
It is one of the 8 existing founding clubs to have formed the Rugby Football Union (RFU) in 1871.
The vision for their flagship 1st XV is to succeed at the heart of the National Leagues, currently national one with the aim of being one of the top 30 clubs in England. However this is to be achieved hand-in-hand with the desire to continue as one of the leading community clubs in the land offering excellent, well coached rugby to all ages and both sexes.
Richmond Women continue to be one of the premier Womens Clubs in the land and the 1st XV has won the Premier League for 3 of the past 4 seasons (2010, 2011 & 2012) as well as winning the National Cup Final in 2009.
The Youth and Minis sections are a matter of great pride to the club involving over 600 players on a Sunday. All the Youth age groups play in the Surrey first division and several have second teams playing in leagues as well.
